Dear Mom and Dad,
Hello I just wanted to tell you guys that I am safe and okay. A terrible thing happened in Paris a couple days ago, resulting in 12 deaths. Two extremists went to a magazine editing building and shot 11 of the writers and editors, one of the men was Charlie Hebdo, the owner of the magazine. They also shot to death Muslim police man. The magazine wrote about the Muslim profit Muhammad which was disrespectful and offensive to the two extremists, this provoked the shooting. Since the shooting there has been many peaceful protests honoring Charlie Hebdo and those who died.
The shooting happened in the 19 arrondisement, my apartment is in the 4th and is not close to where the shooting happened but Jade, Emma, and I are still acting in caution.
The Muslims are worried because they are scared of what the French will think of them now after this act of terror but are still honoring the people who died.
Its very sad what happened and has not only effected France but, the whole world. There was a moment of silence to commemorate the editors and writers who died, and also the victims families. This is a terrible event that occurred. I hope everything is going well at home.
